About Turning Point - Smithfield Detoxification Unit

Turning Point Smithfield offers compassionate care and effective, comprehensive treatment to adult men and women with substance use disorders. They offer clients 24/7 medical supervision and support to ensure safety and wellbeing throughout the detox process, which may include medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to ease symptoms of withdrawal.
Treatment starts with a discrete comprehensive assessment with an experienced staff member. An individualised treatment plan is created to address personal needs and goals throughout the treatment process. Depending on individual needs and circumstances, alcohol withdrawal typically takes 7 days, while opiate detox can be up to 21 days. Clients who are detoxing from regular use of other non-addictive substances are also accepted.
Turning Point offers comfortable accommodations in a therapeutic environment. Clients have access to amenities such as private, comfortable rooms, nutritious chef-prepared meals, and may participate in recreational activities such as art therapy. Clients can also participate in holistic treatment methods which include meditation, yoga, and acupuncture to support overall well-being. Patients attend evidence-based group support meetings, which fosters connections with peers in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. Turning Point also offers family involvement, where loved ones and family members can participate in the treatment process through therapy sessions and educational groups.
