About Mandometer Clinic

Mandometer is a unique clinic in Sweden that has successfully treated patients struggling with eating disorders using their researched backed device called the Mandometer. The Mandometer is a wireless device that communicates with your smartphone via Bluetooth. “Mandometer registers the weight loss of the plate during the meal and generates a curve of your eating speed. At the same time, a reference curve for normal eating speed is displayed. At regular intervals, a saturation scale is displayed and you state how full you are. With the help of a reference curve on the screen, you will learn to feel the right satiety.” Before beginning treatment, clients undergo an initial assessment, and a personalized wellness plan is created by the staff. In lue of traditional talk therapy and 12-Step clinics, Mandometer places an emphasis on living a normal life under medical supervision while eating meals using a Mandometer to normalize behaviors. Clients eat in the Mandometer clinics and after eating, clients can rest in a warm room with the temperature up to 104 degrees if they wish. “This process is said to be anxiolytic and breaks the behavior pattern of exercising or moving immediately after eating as a form of self-punishment.” After clients progress, they are weaned off the Mandometer and receive continued support if needed.
Mandometer has 5 clinics, 4 in Stockholm and 1 clinic in Alingsås. Approximately 1000 unique patients come to the Mandometer Clinics every year. Each Mandometer Clinic has dining rooms, kitchens, heating rooms, family rooms, study and activity rooms, a joy workshop, and examination rooms and offices. Since 1993, The Mandometer Clinics have been successfully treating patients since 1993 in Sweden, the USA, and Australia using the Mandometer Method.
