About The Kenneth Peters Center for Recovery Hauppauge (Forge Health)

Part of Forge Health, this outpatient center provides high-quality, effective treatment for drug and alcohol addiction in Long Island. Their signature 3-phase approach has been their method of treatment since 1995. The first phase of treatment at Kenneth Peters is an intensive outpatient model (IOP). In the first phase, their patients attend 3 hour sessions, 3-5 sessions per week. During this phase, patients gain an education about their addiction, get a sponsor and establish good health and coping skills. Patients may require medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to prevent relapse and cravings during this phase as well. The 2nd phase of treatment is a step down from the 1st phase. Patients attend 1.5 hour sessions 2-3 times per week. The patients learn to deal with ongoing issues related to sobriety, family or internally. Patients can join specialty groups based on age or gender at this point as well. The 3rd and final phase of treatment is the transition phase where patients identify goals and take inventory of their progress. Kenneth Peters also provides additional continuing care for patients to maintain their sobriety. They offer specialized groups for first responders, as well as gender-specific groups for alumni. All of the programs are influenced heavily by 12-Step programming, in order to heal the individual, family and community.
