About Harris House

Harris House was founded in 1961 and has spent more than 50 years providing treatment for both men and women struggling with drug and alcohol addictions. Harris House acknowledges that every person is unique and may be at different phases of the healing process, thus they offer a full continuum of care including a 28-day inpatient program, PHP, IOP, medical detoxification, and transitional housing. The comprehensive approach Harris House has developed emphasizes the need of a personalized treatment plan. In addition to receiving treatment for alcohol and drug addiction, clients also receive training in employment skills, stress and anger management, depression, and anxiety. The IOP program is 12-Step focused, and it costs significantly less than the industry norm. Both individual and group treatment will be provided to clients. Group meetings can either be instructional or process-focused. The physiological harm that addiction causes to the body is discussed in educational groups, along with illness theory, the AA stages, trigger identification, and relapse prevention. Weekly counseling sessions involve both the family and the client. Although clients are busy with program activities everyday, Sundays are more relaxed and clients are able to enjoy free time.
The Harris House is located in St. Louis, Missouri in a safe and secure urban area. Clients have semi-private rooms, an on-site fitness center, and chef-prepared meals. Airport pickup is provided to clients from outside St. Louis. Graduates of the program are encouraged to continue in their IOP program as needed and can receive weekly aftercare groups for a year after treatment.
