Founded in 1913, the Gould Farm is dedicated to helping adults, 18 or older, with mental disorders including depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. They strive to create a family atmosphere and welcome their “guests,” as they like to call their patients, into a multigenerational community by joining in on meals, celebrations, and holidays. Each guest has their own private room and is provided with 24/7 support. Guests work closely with their social worker, residential advisor, work team leaders, transition counselor, consulting psychiatrist, and nursing office staff.
Gould Farm prides themselves on intertwining clinical care with other aspects of their program, including outdoor activity. This allows clinical care to not be limited to a certain time constraint per week since it is incorporated into daily activities. Located on 700 acres of rolling farmland, the guests enjoy hiking, gardening, and sports every day. Guests also get to experience basic farm work including caring for animals, tapping trees for syrup, and baking bread. Gould Farm’s mission is to help their guests reconnect with themselves and nature in their process of recovery.
