The first Cuan Mhuire treatment center in Cork was established in August 2006. This program serves women-only needing treatment for substance use disorder .Sr. Consilio recognized the need for a specialized program since she was aware of the particular challenges certain women face in their fight against addiction. Cuan Mhuire, Farnanes is located in a stunningly planted and wooded area.
One of the most significant advancements in the field of addiction treatment is the unique and experientially oriented approach offered by Cuan Mhuire. As the largest nonprofit provider in Ireland, Cuan Mhurie desire is to help those struggling with addiction and gambling addiction find hope, health, and lasting recovery. The Cuan Mhuire Program, which is based on the principle of complete abstinence, works to rebuild each participant's self-esteem, self-respect, and feeling of responsibility. Treatment involves life skills, education, group and family therapy, and individual counselling.
Participants move through a structured 12-week treatment for alcohol and a 20-week gambling/ addiction program for substance misuse. Cuan Mhuire continues to offer assistance after treatment.
